JSD Volunteer Application Procedure
In accordance with the attached School Volunteer Policy, approved
background checks and signed Confidentiality Agreements are now
required for all school volunteers.
In order to volunteer in Jamestown Schools, the following is required:
An approved background check (see procedure below)
Background Check Procedures
For Jamestown Residents:
Bring the following to Maggi Moretti, Secretary at Melrose School
Notarized Consent Form (must be signed and notarized by Notary
Public. Maggi Moretti, is a Notary Public.)
Photocopy of Photo ID that includes date of birth
The school will mail these items to the Jamestown Police Department.
For Residents of other towns:
Please stop by your local police department and tell them that you need a
BCI Background Check to volunteer at a school. Procedures and forms may
vary. Alternatively you can deal directly with the state, see the BCI Website.
Once the Background Check is completed bring or send associated
paperwork to Maggi Moretti, Jamestown School, 76 Melrose Ave,
Jamestown RI 02835 (include confidentiality agreement)
Names of volunteers with approved background checks will be
recorded and accessible to teachers and school administrators.
